How Well Do You Know……….. ???
Joanne Thompson
She’s from Scandinavia, Wisconsin, and we’ve been blessed to have her at TMBC since 1986. Joanne has been on several missions all over: Randal, Arizona; Waupaca, Wisconsin, a university in Oklahoma; and even Germany!
In 1992, Joanne started a ministry here at TMBC called Campers on Mission. There were others across the country, but this was the first in Arizona. Campers on mission helped around the community where hard workers were needed! They helped build several churches, one of which was in Waupaca, Wisconsin (Started by Joanne’s Mom and Dad). Joanne says, “We always went back to Waupaca.”
She mentions her family as always being helpful. “It took a while to come from a different church, but we joined…The TMBC people have been wonderful with us…”You know that once you join, you have something to do all the time.” Joanne even spent time working with the kids here at church and was even a ‘foster grandparent’ for many. Do you know that grapefruit tree by the old church building? She was there with one of her students, Jody Spoon, digging that hole! She and the girls would go driving around in Tucson Estates and share the gospel. Several came to the Lord.
Special Fact: at the point they were married for 45 years, she and her husband, Art, did their wedding again, which Pastor Jay presented!
Joanne says her favorite bible verse is the one she learned first, Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
