John 16:7-15
Subject
DEPENDING ON GOD’S SPIRIT
Description

To live the Christian life, successfully, I need to remember these things…

1. The Holy Spirit will Live in me.

“But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:17

The most important thing to remember about a container is it does not matter what that container looks like.

It’s what’s inside the container that counts.

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:18

“I will give you another counselor to be with you Through all the problems of life? Yes! Until I die? Yes! Even after I die? Yes! Forever!” My salvation is an Eternal Relationship!

“Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” 16: 5-7

During the loneliest moments of your life, you’re going to find Him to be your closest friend.

I need to learn Spiritual breathing.

Breathe out: Recognizing I’m Forgiven of my sins. I’m cleansed.

It’s Realizing Christ died on the cross for me.

Breathe in: Recognizing The Holy Spirit’s Presence in my life and that He Guides and Directs me.

2. The Holy Spirit will Convict the world.

Jesus said, “When He comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.” John 16:8

Convict is translated reprove in some of your bibles. It means to bring to light, to expose, to refute, to convict, to convince. It’s translated as cross-examine.

The Holy Spirit convicts the world. In three specific ways;

“In regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.” 16: 9-11

Concerning Sin: “because men don’t believe In Me.”

Concerning Righteousness: “because I’m going to the Father, you will see Me no longer”

Concerning Judgment: “because the prince of this world now stands condemned.”

Sin equals Separation from God.

Regarding Righteousness. The Holy Spirit says there’s something extremely unique and powerful about the person of Jesus Christ.

Regarding Judgment. Jesus said the conviction of judgment is because of who has already been judged? The prince of this world – Satan.

Jesus said, I shall not be the prosecuting attorney. I should Not be the Judge. He said you’re also, I should not supposed to act like the person who’s on trial either. You’re to be my witnesses.

3. The Holy Spirit will Guide me.

“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” 16:12-13

“He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is Mine and He will make it known to you.” 16:14-15

He’s supplies each one of us as a Personal guide.

He guides you remember three things.

He will always guide us towards the Truth.

He will always guide us towards Hope.

He will always guide us towards Jesus.

The more you read His word, the more you’re going to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking in your life.
