It’s a New Year

Recently, as I walked the church grounds, I began thinking of all the things that have happened in these last two years. We have been blessed with so many people who have contributed their time, talents, contacts, and of course financial contributions, that when I look around, I see new roofs and gutters, repairs and replacement of sidewalks, new air conditioners, new stucco (that should have new paint by the end of January), a new freezer and another freezer repaired, new floor tile and paint, all sorts of new sound/video/audio and I.T. equipment, many various repairs to our electrical systems and other heating and cooling equipment! There are just so many new and replaced and repaired items that I am truly amazed!

Several ministries have expanded and grown, along with the number of volunteers and those that we serve. There are also at least two new home Bible Studies taking place during the week. We have new members who are coming and serving and being an active part of this body of believers. These are truly awesome events to behold! And yet, with all these wonderful and great things that have happened, all these changes that have taken place.

I sometimes wonder what changes are taking place in your minds and hearts. How are we growing and changing spiritually through Christ personally? Is what I am teaching and preaching having a positive impact on your lives? The sermons and teachings are all designed to somehow move all of us, myself included, to make changes in our lives, to draw us closer to God by becoming more like His Son in all we think, say, and do. It is my sincere prayer that it is doing that somehow and in some way.

As we start this New Year together, let’s not forget our calling is not complete. There are many more items to be repaired, rebuilt, or renewed on our facilities. But more importantly, there are many more lives that need the touch of Jesus’ power. God has allowed us the opportunity and given us the responsibility as His servants and children to help show others the way into His Kingdom. And that path is not always easy for some to see or understand until their feet are firmly planted on it, so it’s up to us to help them wherever and whenever we can. I look forward to serving alongside of you this upcoming year wherever God will allow. I hope and pray that as we serve together, God will continue to bless us personally and corporately with spiritual growth, health, and the ongoing unity that binds us together.
