What are Tucson Mountain Church’s Values
Description

We need to be a Church based on Godly values.

1. WE VALUE THE APPLICATION OF SCRIPTURE.
God wants us to be truth in action. God wants His doctrine turned into deeds.
“Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves but do what it says.” James 1:22
Christianity is an ongoing lifestyle change.
“We only truly believe the part of the Bible that we do.”

2. WE VALUE SERVICE.
We’re individually gifted and equipped to serve.
We’re commanded to serve and we’re authorized to serve.
Jesus said; “Your attitude must be like My own. I did not come to be served but to serve.” Matt. 20:28
“David served God’s purpose in his own generation…” Acts 13:36
“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.” Gal. 5:13

3. WE VALUE EXCELLENCE. We are not perfect so we should not expect perfection from anyone else.
“Each man should test his own action then he can take pride in himself without comparing himself to others.” Gal. 6:4 “The quality of each man’s work will be seen when the day of Christ exposes it…
” 1st Cor. 3:13

4. WE VALUE FEEDBACK
“A fool thinks he needs no advice, but a wise man listens to others.” Prov. 12:15 “Every prudent man acts out of knowledge..” Prov. 13:16 “Be sure to know the condition of your flock. Give careful attention to your herds.” Prov. 27:23
“Reliable communication permits progress.” Prov. 13:15

5. WE VALUE TRANSPARENCY.
We need to be a “What you see is what you get.” Kind of People. We need to be vulnerable. We’re talking about integrity.
God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. Leadership is always earned and maintained by trust.
“Our lives in this world and especially our relations with you have been ruled by God given frankness and sincerity.” 2nd Cor. 1:12
“We’re hiding nothing from you and our hearts are absolutely open to you.” 2nd Cor. 6:11

6. WE VALUE INFORMALITY.
We intentionally strive to be more casual, and open in our communication, in our services, in our relationships. We intentionally try to remove as many barriers to worship as we can.
“A relaxed attitude lengthens a man’s life.” Prov. 14:30

7. WE VALUE PEOPLE’S GIFTEDNESS
“We build on strengths so that weaknesses become irrelevant.”
“God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.” Rom. 12:6 “Each of us should use whatever spiritual gift he has received to serve others.” 1st Peter 4:10

8. WE VALUE PEOPLE’S DIFFERENCES.
“Accept one another just as Christ has accepted you.” Rom. 15:7
We can have unity without uniformity.
We can have differences without division.
“There are all sorts of service to be done, but always to the same Lord, working in all sorts of different ways in different people.” 1st Cor. 12:5-6
On the essentials we have unity, in the non-essential’s liberty, and in all things we are to practice charity.”

9. WE VALUE LEARNING.
Learning should be the lifestyle of leadership. “All leaders are lifelong learners.” “He who loves wisdom loves his own best interest and will be a success.” Prov. 19:8
“If the ax is dull and its edge is unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.” Eccl. 10:10
The moment you stop learning, you stop leading and you start dying.

10. WE VALUE SIMPLICITY.
Why do we make it so complex ?”
Or motto for this should be: “Strive for simplicity. Simplify for success.” “God has made us plain and simple but we’ve made ourselves very complicated.” Eccl. 7:29
We should Stick with the KISSS method – Keep It Simple, Short and Sweet!
Simple does not mean Shallow. Einstein once said, “You don’t completely understand something unless you can explain it in a simple way.”
“When I came to you it was not with any show of oratory or philosophy but simply to tell you what God had guaranteed.” 1st Cor. 2:1 “I am afraid that Satan is steering you away from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 2nd Cor. 11:3
Jesus said it in two sentences: “Love God with all your heart” and “love your neighbor as yourself.” Matt. 22:37,39 That’s pretty simple. The hard part is doing it.

11. WE VALUE TEAMWORK.
“We are a body. We belong to each other. We are members together.” Together our ideas can be Great Ideas! “All of you together are part of the one body of Christ and each of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” 1st Cor. 12:27
“Two are better off than one because together they can work more effectively.” Eccl. 4:9
“In Christ, we who are many form one body and each member belongs to all of the others.” Rom. 12:5

12. WE VALUE INNOVATION
“We’ve never done it that way before.” Our motto should be: “Why not?” The real Failure is not trying.
There is no growth without change and there is no change without some pain.
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1st Cor. 6:9-10

But then he says,
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. v. 11.

“The intelligent man is always open to new ideas. In fact, he looks for them.” Prov. 18:15
“…New wine must be poured into new wineskins.” Matt. 9:17

13. WE VALUE FREEDOM AND FLEXIBILITY.
To cope with that rapid change, we have to be fast, fluid and flexible.
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is …” Policies? No. Procedures? No. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.” 2nd Cor. 3:17
“We may make our plans but God has the last word.” Prov. 16:1

14. WE VALUE HUMOR.
Most people don’t take God seriously enough and they take themselves too seriously. I need to remember “God is God, and I’m not.” How do you know if you’re humble or not? The thinner skinned you are the humbler you’re not.
“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, mount up with wings
as eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
“Being cheerful keeps you healthy.” Pro. 17:22
“God richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” 1st Tim. 6:17

15. WE VALUE OPTIMISM.
That’s really another word for faith. It’s believing God not only can do it, He is doing it and He will continue to do it. “Attempt great things for God.” Expect great things from God.
The good news is not that you’re a sinner. The good news is that Christ died on the cross for you. When He cried out, “It is finished!” Means I am forgiven.
If God is for us, who can be against us. Rom. 8:31 “…All things are possible with God” Matt. 19:26 “…According to your faith it will be done unto you.” Matt. 9:29

16. WE VALUE GROWTH.
“What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mark 8:37
“Under Christ’s control, the whole body is nourished and held together and grows as God wants it to grow.” Col. 2:19 A church that doesn’t want to grow is out of the will of God. People need the Lord. The situation demands it. And God commands it!

17. WE VALUE COMMITMENT.
We become what we’re committed to. “Without a vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18
"First they gave themselves to the Lord and then by God’s will they gave themselves to us as well.” 2nd Cor. 8:5 The question is what are you committed to today?
“What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” Mark 8:36
