"The Life Development Church”
"The Life Development Church”
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20
So the question is: How is business?
Our mission is to attract and develop members into mature models of Christlike character and conduct, mobilizing them for ministry in the church and a meaningful mission in the world.
“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” Rom. 8:29
God’s number one plan and purpose for my life and your life is to make us like Christ in character and in conduct.
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” Eph. 4:11-12
The theological foundation of the Life Development Church is twofold: One, we believe Christianity is a lifestyle. Two Christianity is not a religion, It’s a personal relationship with Jesus to God and to other people.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
Life Development is about teaching people how to Live the Christian life.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” . James 1:22
The Christian lifestyle has four key components: Every believer is a Member of Christ’s body. We believe every believer needs Maturity. We believe every believer is a Minister. We believe every believer is a Missionary.
“So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Rom. 12:5
And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ… Eph. 4:11-13 The Berean Bible
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Those components also meet four of life’s most basic needs. People to live with, Principles to live by, a Profession to live on and a Purpose to live for.
“I consider my life of no value unless I use it to fulfill the ministry and the mission that God gave me to do, that mission of communicating the good news to others.” . Acts 20:24 GN
1. WE HELP THEM EXPLORE
“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour.” John 1:39
2. WE ENLIGHTEN THEM
“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints” Eph. 1:18
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” . John 8:12
3. WE ENLIST THEM
“So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:5
4. WE EDIFY THEM
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Rom. 14:19
Spiritual growth is a process.
5. WE EXAMINE THEM
“As God’s messenger I give each of you God’s warning: Be honest in your estimate of yourselves, measuring your value by how much faith God has given you.” Romans 12:3 LB
“What has God made you to do?”
6. WE EMPLOY THEM
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1st Peter 4:10
7. EQUIP THEM
“So that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” . 2nd Tim. 3:17
8. WE ENCOURAGE THEM
“Let us have real warm affection for one another as between brothers, and a willingness to let the other man have the credit. Let us not allow slackness to spoil our work and let us keep the fires of the Spirit burning, as we do our work for God.” Rom. 12:10-11
9. EVALUATE THEM
“Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.” Heb. 13:17
As a Life Development Church we want to: “Bring people in, build them up, train them and send them out.”
