Miracles and the Power of Prayer
Miracles are extraordinary occurrences that can only be attributed to the supernatural work of God, an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. I believe miracles do still happen today. The media may call them chance or coincidence, but I think we know better. The power of prayer is amazing, and I believe prayer helps in bringing miracles to fruition.
I prayed long and hard for my Daddy when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. It was inoperable and the treatment was brutal. The side effects of the medication were fierce. He was so sick and weak and tired. He was in a lot of pain. I wondered if he was strong enough to fight the disease. We were helpless but to pray for God’s will.
My sister and I went to visit him and were shocked at the transformation. He had lost so much weight; he was pale and drained. He slept often and hardly ate. It was difficult to see him that way. It was a long and scary journey for all of us.
He is in remission; thank God.
When my Father-in-Law collapsed and was taken to the hospital by ambulance, none of us knew what to think. He was transferred to a different hospital the same night and completely out of it for several days. He had a high fever and internal bleeding. His kidneys were failing, and they were concerned about his heart.
The doctors couldn’t give us any answers, so we prayed. They put him on a ventilator, had him sedated, put in a Central line, and had him restrained. He looked awful. The doctors finally told us that there was nothing more that could be done, and they would keep him as comfortable as possible until he passed. He walked out of that hospital just like he said he would. A miracle indeed.
Both amazing men are still here today because of the power of prayer.
They are miracles standing together in this picture, living life to the fullest! They are both a bit stubborn, well they are both a lot stubborn, and they are both without a doubt, fighters. God blessed us with more time together, and I am so thankful.
“You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” Psalm 77:14
