Soul Worth Saving
I heard a new song this week while driving to work and I immediately added it to my song list because the lyrics were so powerful, I knew I would need this song later. I have heard it several times since then and have been drawn to it. It is called ‘Soul Worth Saving’ by Apollo LTD.
Have you ever received a call from an old friend or family member or been approached by someone that needed consoling somehow and you weren’t sure what to say or how to say it? I got one of those calls recently and I really struggled with knowing the right thing to say. I wanted to help and not make things worse, but nothing seemed to be helping. An old friend who had previously tried to commit suicide, was having a really bad day and said she was thinking about ending her life again and I was freaking out a little; okay, I was freaking out a lot.
We talked about finding an outlet- journaling, praying, cleaning, a new hobby, reading the bible, walking/running, anything that would take her mind off things. She was not opposed to trying a few of them but couldn’t get past the feeling of worthlessness.
I told her that when I have a bad day or feel down, one sure way to lift my spirits is to sing my heart out. I love praise and worship and that is one of my outlets. Whether it is in my car, in my living room, or when I am on the stage on Sunday mornings, I love to sing His praises. I hope it works for her, too. I sent her the song and asked her to really listen to the lyrics. She has a Soul Worth Saving and maybe hearing the song will help her realize that.
