It’s Fall, y’all! Are you Fall-o-ween Jesus?
Jesus gave three commands for following Him:
1-Deny self- forget yourself and self-interests. This isn’t easy but we need to seek God above all else.
2-Take up your cross- we must make God’s goals our goals no matter the cost and conform to the example Jesus showed when he sacrificed himself on the cross.
3-Follow Him- Jesus essentially said, “I want you to follow me wholeheartedly, and to fulfill your mission to lead people to me.”
“For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.” 1 Peter 2: 21
“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us] and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
“So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1: 14-16
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33
When you make a commitment to Christ, it isn’t just for you, and it isn’t just to him.
Commit to making His top goal yours as well, to be a fisher of men—to point people to God. If you love Christ, you will love others and help others find a relationship with Him.
Are you Fall-o-ween Jesus? There is no better time than today, right now, to re-commit to following Jesus!
